Food for Mind, Body & Soul; the Wider Determinants of Health

  • St Cassian's Centre Berkshire Kintbury RG17 9SR United Kingdom (map)

Come along to Kintbury 8 - 15 August 2026 for an uplifting week chaired by Sam Corcoran, to explore the links between mental health, spiritual health and physical health covering the latest research on healthy eating and gut biomes, food in the Bible, the Eucharistic Feast and the commercial determinants of health.

Sam Corcoran has served for 7 years as the Chair of the Cheshire East Health & Wellbeing Board looking at what leads to good population health.

There has been much research done leading to clear evidence of what has the greatest impact on our health and the role that food, community and lifestyle play in how happy and healthy we are.

Among other things we will look at exercise and the relationship between mental and physical health. Food and climate change, packaging – polluter pays. And the commercial determinants of health (food, tobacco, gambling, fossil fuel and alcohol industries). Do join us to explore the role that food, community and lifestyle play in how happy and healthy we are in body, mind and soul.

CPW Food For Mind 2026
£100.00
  • We want as many people as possible to come to the week, particularly those with children, for whom the cost can be restrictive. So we’re going to trial a Pay What You Can model.

As the name suggests there is no set price and people are encouraged to pay what they can with some people paying more and some paying less.

As a guide, the week will break even if the average amount paid is £365 per adult, £265 per school-age child and £165 for pre-schoolers. We are going to put our faith in the promptings of the Holy Spirit and trust that, overall, the payments will balance out.

We appreciate that some people will feel uncomfortable setting their own price so if you’d like us to suggest a price for you we’d go with a Discounted Children approach – so adults are £365 and children are £100 each for the first and second child -  third and subsequent children are free. If you like the clarity of this approach but would find the adult price a struggle it’s worth pointing out that we can offer a 25% discount on that for people who are new to CPW.

Do please choose either Pay What You Can or  Discounted Children if that makes it possible for you to attend.

If you are in the fortunate position of being able to pay more to offset the cost of this that would be wonderful too.

The deposit is £100 per booking, not per person, and we will ask for payment of the balance a month before the event. Payment by instalments is available. If the payment schedule causes any difficulties do please speak to the organiser. We encourage people to take out travel insurance to cover any losses if you have to cancel.
