Growing old often brings with it challenges of failing health, memory and mobility. But it can also bring many blessings – wisdom, patience, freedom and time. Simeon was happy for his own life to end, whilst welcoming new life. So, for those of us who are in our later years, can we emulate Simeon’s serenity? Or are we afraid of death, and struggling to retain faith in God’s mercy? And for those of us who are living with, or caring for, an old person, how can we help them face the future?

During our time together, we will consider both the challenges and blessings of old age, how we might come to terms with death, and think about our hopes for what comes after.

We will look at how old age has been portrayed in scripture, literature, art and music. And we will explore practical ways of supporting old people, both physically and spiritually.

There will be a maximum of 23 spaces for this week.

** A couple of places have become available for this week. Please contact Vin Allerton if you would like to book on.
