A Dialogue Between Science & Faith with Monica Grady, Professor of Planetary & Space Science at the Open University [ONLINE]
CPW’s annual autumn lecture is part of the organisation’s commitment to providing good-quality educational opportunities to adult Christians to build a responsible, informed Church.
Our 2020 Autumn Lecture will be given by Professor Monica Grady, Professor of Planetary and Space Science at the Open University. A practicing Catholic, Prof Grady will speak about life beyond earth and the dialogue between Science and Faith.
As a scientist who studies the planets, one of Professor Grady’s main areas of interest is the prospect of life on mars. Her talk will cover questions such as:
What would it mean for us on Earth if we found life on Mars?
What would it mean to us as Catholics – is our God the God of Martians?
Have we, as humans, finished evolving?
The lecture will begin at 7.30pm and will take place online via zoom. The lecture will be followed by a discussion and Q&A. There will also be a separate discussion group for young people, so all young science enthusiasts are welcome to join!
