Save the Dates - CPW next year so far

Diary dates
A heads-up that we have three all-age events planned for next year - two weekends and one week. Dates, venues and some details below – more will follow but this is advance notice for those who need to book leave and in other ways plan their lives.

Please note that the all-age week runs Sunday to Sunday – as the theme is about Mass it really needs to finish with the celebration of Sunday Mass.

Adult weeks
The more eagle-eyed among you may notice that there are no adult events yet - a plea last year resulted in three offerings, two of which have successfully taken place and a third next month which is fully booked. So, I hope others will get their thinking caps on and come forward with more wonderful ideas.

Down to Earth! Meditation and Mindful Walking
All-age Walking Weekend
Friday 12th to Sunday 14th April 2024

If you enjoy walking and want to practice Christian meditation/contemplation, this weekend is for you!
We will be walking in the landscape of the Yorkshire Dales to become more deeply aware of ourselves, of God and of our place on the earth. There will also be time and space for guided and silent meditation, scriptural explorations and worship. The walks will be of varied lengths suitable for all. Those who can’t walk long distances can enjoy the immediate beautiful and peaceful surroundings of Scargill House, which is wheelchair and walking frame accessible. Everyone is welcome including families with (young) children. Parents/carers will be responsible for their children.

Chairs: Gabriela Todd (CPW) and Henriette Howarth, an Anglican priest based in Yorkshire.

This is a shared event and bookings will be taken by Scargill House.

Adult Price £152.

Please send expressions of interest to gabriela.todd@yahoo.co.uk.

What are we doing at Mass?
All-age week
Thornbridge Outdoors, Sunday 4th to Sunday 11th August 2024

Depending on our background and current relationship with God and/or the Church, each of us may put the emphasis on a different word in that question. According to the Catechism, ‘the Eucharist is the Source and Summit of Christian Life’, but what does that actually mean for us? By contemplating, experimenting and creating, by discussing, praying and celebrating, by being challenged and by having fun, as well as uncovering the history and scriptural foundations, we shall try to understand what is really going on at Mass, what our part is in that and what it means for how we interact with the world and the people around us.

Chair: Chris Dingle
Chief Helper: Claire Levesley
Chaplain: Peter Hunter, OP
Organizers: Brid Fitzpatrick* and Rob Cook

Venue: Thornbridge Outdoors, Bakewell, Derbyshire

* For all queries before the week, please contact Brid Fitzpatrick.

This will be a self-catering week with a spirit of living simply. The site is fully accessible.

Eat, Pray, Love
All-age Weekend
Alton Castle, Thursday 31st October – Sunday 3rd November 2024.

A weekend exploring and celebrating the connections between food and faith.

This is a self-catering weekend.

Chair: Mary Huckfield.

Paying by instalment
Prices are not yet finalized for the two later events. However, it is now possible to spread the cost of attending CPW by setting-up a standing order to build-up a pot towards payment. If you would like to do this, please contact the treasurer, Liz Dingle. It will still be necessary to complete a booking form and pay a deposit for any event(s) you attend. If you end up not attending any events, your pot can be refunded, or kept towards the following year.
