Could you be our new treasurer?

This is your chance to join the team that is taking CPW forward for the next generation!

If you have an eye for detail, are well organised and can present information clearly, this could be the role for you. Ideally you would have a background in accountancy or bookkeeping, or experience of being a treasurer in a voluntary capacity.

The main tasks included in this vital role are listed below. It requires commitment of about half a day a week, on average, with plenty of flexibility. We would be looking for someone to be ready to take over this November and to work with the team for between 3 and 5 years. You will be helped into the role by our outgoing treasurer Liz Dingle.

Get in touch with Liz, or one of the CPW chairs if you want to know more or are interested in exploring the role, including as part of a job-share.

As CPW treasurer you will:

Help us run successful events by:
* Establishing the financial viability of venues and setting the costs for events
* Working with event chairs to establish a budget
* Setting up spreadsheets to analyse expenditure
* Processing expenditure claims efficiently

Give our members the best experience by:
* Recording bookings and deposits received
* Considering applications for bursaries
* Raising invoices
* Recording contributions to the bursary fund and world fund.

Manage incoming and outgoing funds by:
* Banking income
* Reconciling bank statements and checking for BACS payments
* Recording supplier invoices and member expenses, setting them up for payment and arranging for payments to be authorised by a second trustee
* Maintaining Gift Aid information and claiming Gift Aid
* Making payments to the world fund charities selected by event attendees
* Updating QuickBooks with standing order income

Keep CPW’s accounts according to best practice for charities, including:
* Preparing year-end accounts for the auditor, and arranging for them to be submitted to the Charity Commission
* Maintaining financial procedures and policies
* Writing the Trustees Annual Report to go with the accounts

You will attend trustee meetings and advise other trustees on financial matters, working as a team to ensure CPW is in good financial position for the future.
