CPW's Icon Project - How to Take Part

Come Together to Pray

IMG_2871.JPG

CPW recently commissioned Sr. Mary Stella from the Icon Studio at the Monastery of Our Lady of Hyning to write an Icon for our 75th Anniversary Year Celebrations.

After almost 18 months of prayerful preparation and Spirit-filled conversations, Sr. Stella started to write the Icon late last year and the finished Icon was given to CPW earlier this summer.

A purpose of the Icon is to encourage people from local areas such as parishes, deaneries or diocesan areas to come together to pray.  It is hoped that CPW members will get to know others in their areas and as an opportunity to invite non members to meet us.

Beginning in Advent we are inviting CPW members to host the Icon for their area - opening up an opportunity to invite people to come and pray in their homes or parishes and to enjoy the unique CPW hospitality.

The Icon will travel with a set of resources including all you need for a prayer time along with a readymade prayer service should you need it. It will also include a book for each group to write intercessions, a map to show the Icon’s pilgrim path and information on the Saints represented on the Icon.

It is also hoped that each group will add something to the box from their prayer time.

How to Get Involved

We are asking for volunteers from each Diocese to act as co-ordinators for the project. Icons are to be handled with reverence and traditionally never posted but passed on by hand. The co-ordinator will be responsible for receiving the Icon from the previous Diocese and passing it on to the next.

The co-ordinator will be the local contact for those who wish to host the Icon. The co-ordinator can also host themselves.

The travelling Icon needs people to volunteer if the project is to work. If you are able to help, whether as a co-ordinator or as a host then please contact Anne at chaircpw@gmail.com.
